Prayer Against Crime
your compassion and mercy in the midst of the epidemic of
violence which is sweeping our country, South Africa.
We ask you to take out the hearts of violence which
have possessed so many of our people and plant in them
hearts of love, the love of your Son Jesus Christ.
We ask you to send the Holy Spirit into the minds and
hearts of our legislators and government so that they take
the necessary steps to eradicate this scourge in our society.
Be with our law enforcement agencies, that they may
have the courage and strength to control the situation and
restore justice and peace.
Bring your comfort to all those who are the victims of
violence and crime in our society. Help them to recover from
the shock and hurt so that they can return to their normal
duties without fear and resentment.
Help us, together with government, to eradicate
extreme poverty and unemployment which often are
breeding grounds for crime and violence.
We ask this through your Son, Jesus Christ, the Prince
of Peace, who lives and reigns with you forever and ever.
